New brandmagik.in is live, and this journal now drafts itself
I took the new brandmagik.in live today, fixed a Campus bug that reloaded the app on every tab switch, and set up the journal to draft itself from my notes.
The new brandmagik.in went live today. It replaces the old one-page site. Now there is a page each for the three products, MagikBoard, Campus and Evolve, plus Services and this Journal. The site is built with Astro and deploys to Hostinger.
The part I was most careful about was Campus. The app lives under the same domain, and I did not want the switch to touch it. It stayed exactly as it was. Nobody using it should have noticed anything changed.
A bug I had been living with
While I was in there, I fixed something in Campus that had been bothering me. The app reloaded every time the browser tab got focus again. You would switch to another tab, come back, and it would start over.
The cause was simple once I found it. The app treated every sign-in event as a new login. Some of those events fire when you just return to the tab, so it reloaded each time. Now it only reloads when the signed-in person actually changes. If it is still you, it leaves you where you were.
How the journal works now
I also set up the journal to run itself, mostly. I drop short notes as GitHub issues, the kind I would write for myself at the end of a day. Each morning Claude drafts a post from those notes. I read it and approve it. Merging publishes the site. This post came through that path.
The reason is plain. I want to write here every day, and I know that if every post needs a blank page and an hour, it will not happen. Notes I can do. Reading and approving a draft I can do. The approval step stays with me, so nothing goes out that I have not read.
The hiccup
Deploys did not go smoothly at first. Hostinger’s FTP kept dropping the encrypted uploads partway through. I tried for a while and then stopped fighting it. The deploy now goes over SSH, with the server’s host key pinned so the connection only goes to the server I expect. It has been working since.
Next is to keep the notes coming and see how the drafts hold up over a few days of real work.
